Growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, there weren't many opportunities to meet new people. Feelings of isolation were rampant among our younger population; especially children who don’t belong to a sports team. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) centered activities aren’t usually thought of as something to bring people together, but our team is dedicated to changing that stigma. The KnoxvilleMaker Space is designed to help the community find people in the community with the same interests. Creating a maker space allows for people to find others with similar interests, but lets them express themselves by still having full creative freedom with the materials provided. The KnoxvilleMaker Space isn’t only for young kids, it's for everyone. Our mission is to unite the local Knoxville community through STEAM.
